Breaking news: artists need an income to buy food, so that they can eat, so that they can create more art.

Ok, that was probably way too sarcastic sounding for any professionally run business.  But it becomes exhausting how the definition of art is becoming so finely parsed, especially between 'fine-art' and 'illustration art'.

Art is about creative expression. Period.

This is a favorite French phrase that describes the intangible of anything that creates distinction or an undefined something special. 

In other words, you know it when you see it. It just is.

Fine art falls into this definition.  Academics can break it down and try to logically explain why there is good art and then there is great art, but the reality is that fine art is such a core part of the artist that it transcends definition.
